Justice Liu has participated in 57 criminal procedure cases since joining the Court, voting for defendants in 19 cases and against them 38 times.  From 2011 to 2014, he supported defendants seven times and voted against them in 21 cases.  From 2015 to 2019, he voted for defendants 12 times and against them in 17 cases.

Justice Liu has participated in only 17 criminal procedure cases won by defendants below.  He has voted to affirm in three of those cases and to reverse, in whole or in part, 14 times.  From 2011 to 2014, he voted to affirm in three of eleven cases.  From 2015 to 2019, he voted to reverse in all six cases.

Justice Liu has participated in 39 criminal procedure cases lost by defendants below.  He has voted to reverse, in whole or in part, in 16 cases and to affirm 23 times.  Between 2011 and 2014, he voted to reverse four times and to affirm in 12 cases.  Between 2015 and 2019, he voted to reverse in 12 cases and to affirm 11 times.
